Cancers we can beat

We eliminate suffering and death in Louisiana by focusing on cancers that can be prevented or detected early and cured.

Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

We make sure women who qualify get no-cost mammograms and the help they need to get screened (including financial help and transportation). We also provide online support to young breast cancer survivors and their caregivers. In addition, we educate women, providers, legislators, and others around the state to beat breast cancer in Louisiana.

Cervical Cancer & HPV

Cervical Cancer & HPV

No one should ever die from cervical cancer, which is why we provide no-cost Pap tests to Louisiana women who qualify. We also educate people at all levels – including parents, doctors, the general public and more – to make sure boys and girls are getting the HPV vaccine to prevent cancers (including cervical) after they’re grown.

Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal Cancer

Catch colorectal cancer early and it’s more than 90% survivable. That’s why everyone 45 and over should be screened. But Louisiana has a special problem with the disease and that is why everyone should learn why we are more vulnerable and what we at LCP are doing about it.

Programs & Projects

The Louisiana Breast and Cervical Health Program (LBCHP) provides no-cost mammograms and Pap tests to Louisiana women who qualify. LBCHP also provides navigation support and help with other costs associated with screening and diagnosis. See our locations and if you qualify.

Screen Up is LCP’s quality improvement program that aims to increase breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening rates in every Louisiana community. Screen Up works towards this goal by providing quality improvement support to primary care clinics.

Colorectal cancer is a largely preventable cancer, which can be detected by screening. The Louisiana Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (LCCRT) – a diverse group of public, private and academic partners – works on policy issues to increase screening rates in Louisiana.

The Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalitions (LHCCs) are local grass-roots organizations working to fight tobacco use and obesity in a variety of different ways, from smoke-free ordinances to infrastructure. Find out what is going on your area, apply for mini-grants and more.
