At www.quitwithusla.org, you’ll not only find all the quitting resources in Louisiana you need, but practical quit smoking tips and research-based advice to not only help smokers and tobacco users quit, but stay quit.
Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669) to speak with quit coach 24/7. The quitline is available to Louisiana residents whom are 13 years of age or older. Services include counseling, a variety of FDA-approved cessation medications, online support and tools, and other services such as callbacks. When a participant calls the quitline they will receive a free quit coach whom will provide either single or multi-session counseling to tobacco users who are ready to quit. The quit coach will work in identifying tobacco use triggers and help in setting a quit date. All quitline services are available in both English and Spanish, and interpretive services are available for other languages as well. Specialized programs have been developed to better serve priority populations such as pregnant woman.

The Smoking Cessation Trust (SCT) is the result of a class action lawsuit entitled Scott v. American Tobacco Company. The judgment ordered certain tobacco companies to fund a statewide 10-year smoking cessation program to benefit more than 200,000 Louisiana smokers who are members of the plaintiff class also known as (the “Scott Class”). The Trust will benefit Louisiana residents who began smoking before September 1, 1988.
Eligible Trust Members will receive any of the following cessation services at no cost: cessation medications, individual/ group cessation counseling, telephone quitline support, and/or intensive support services. Louisiana residents can access the Trust via their website at www.smokingcessationtrust.org.
The Tobacco Control Initiative (TCI) is a multi-disciplinary program specializing in helping tobacco users quit. TCI offers free or low-cost, evidenced tobacco treatment services to all Louisiana public hospital patients, employees and the communities they serve.
Services offered to tobacco users include: behavioral counseling (individual and group), quit-line support, pharmacotherapy, and self-help material. https://www.latci.org/
We make sure women who qualify get no-cost mammograms and the help they need to get screened (including financial help and transportation). We also provide online support to young breast cancer survivors and their caregivers. In addition, we educate women, providers, legislators, and others around the state to beat breast cancer in Louisiana.
